Controlling railway gate using arduino”
Controlling railway gate using arduino”

ABSTRACT

Our project aims at a railway level crossing gate opening/closing system operated throughan android application The opening/closing of railway gate is traditionally operated through manual lever pullingmethod. This application just any android OS based device to run on. A Bluetooth device attachedto the railway gate is used to receive the Bluetooth commands. These commands are then passed on to an Arduino microcontroller which then performsthe required action. On receiving opening command, it drives the motors to open thegate and closes the gate on receiving the close commands. It does this by driving themotor through a driver IC to achieve this functionality.

1. Arduino microcontroller

Arduino microcontroller

Arduino/Genuino Uno is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328P (datasheet). It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz quartz crystal, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header and a reset button.

How does a IR sensor work?

An infrared (IR) sensor is an electronic device that measures and detects infrared radiation in its surrounding environment. ... When an object comes close to the sensor, the infrared light from the LED reflects off of the object and is detected by the receiver.
3.DC motor

4.Driver circuit
Driver circuit
Driver circuits are most commonly used to amplify signals from controllers or microcontrollers in order to control power switches in semiconductor devices

7.LCD Display5.Relay

Relays are electrically operated switches that open and close the circuits by receiving electrical signals from outside sources. ... The “relays” embedded in electrical products work in a similar way; they receive an electrical signal and send the signal to other equipment by turning the switch on and of

.6.LED

6.LED

In the simplest terms, a light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits light when an electric current is passed through it. Light is produced when the particles that carry the current (known as electrons and holes) combine together within the semiconductor material

7.LCD Display

LCD Display

liquid-crystal display (LCD) is a flat-panel display or other electronically modulated optical device that uses the light-modulating properties of liquid crystals combined with polarizers. ... LCDs can either be normally on (positive) or off (negative), depending on the polarizer arrangement.

8.Buzzer

Buzzer

A buzzer or beeper is an audio signaling device, which may be mechanical, electromechanical, or piezoelectric (piezo for short). Typical uses of buzzers and beepers include alarm devices, timers, and confirmation of user input such as a mouse click or keystroke

Software Requirements

1. Embedded C

Embedded C

Embedded C is a generic term given to a programming language written in C, which is associated with a particular hardware architecture. Embedded C is an extension to the C language with some additional header files. These header files may change from controller to controller. The microcontroller 8051 #include<reg51.

2. Arduino IDE

Arduino IDE by mifratech

The Arduino Integrated Development Environment (IDE) is a cross-platform application (for Windows, macOS, Linux) that is written in functions from C and C++. It is used to write and upload programs to Arduino compatible boards, but also, with the help of third-party cores, other vendor development boards.

3.Android App

The short description is the first bit of text potential users see in an app listing when in the Google Play app. Once a user has installed the app, the short description is replaced by "what's new" text.
