HOME AUTOMATION USING IOT

Abstract

Nowadays Technology keeps on upgrading. Home security is essential for occupant’s convenience and protection. Security systems are being preferred over manual system. With the rapid increase in the number of users of internet over the past decade has made Internet a part and parcel of life, and IOTs is the latest and emerging internet technology. Home Appliances control of smart security system using IOTs uses computers or mobile devices to control basic home functions and features through internet from anywhere around the world. This security system differs from other system by allowing the user to operate the system from anywhere around the world through internet connection. With the help of Arduino microcontroller as an Embedded device, security system design was constructed with the help of many sensors like PIR sensor, Fire Sensor, Gas Sensors.

Introduction

Safety and security of any living or working place is one of the most primary concerns. The advancement of technology has increased the safety and security of people along with their belongings. One of the reasons for the rise of the smart home is the increasing risk of burglary and robbery and the busy lifestyle. The busy lifestyle of people is leading to the necessity of controlling the devices at home remotely and increasing the necessity of keeping surveillance over their homes. With advancement of internet technology lifestyle of every person is changing constantly. So here is a method proposed to make a home secured  with the help of IOT and along with some sensors.

Objective and Features

IOT and sensor based control of home automation system leverages the power of Arduino to provide a holistic using sensors and IOT to make home to be secured and safety with the help of internet of things.

Sensors are senses gas detection and automatically open the windows, when human detect the PIR sensor to get activated and  buzzer get beep sound, fire sensor the temperature values increases from the threshold value automatically notify to nearest police station, when intruder detected  message also get through Wifi. above all the parameter can be monitored  from the home though IOT along with message can be pass to police station.  

Existing Method

There have many methods proposed earlier. Nikhil Agarwal, G. SubramanyaNayak had used password protected door system methodology in home automation system. The door lock is password protected with an LED based resistive screen input panel which operates by detecting difference in light intensity captured by the photo diode which is emitted by surrounding red LEDs and reflected by the finger.

Visa M. Ibrahim, Asogwa A. Victor, S. Y. Musa constructs his Security system for car protection. In that concept if thief tries to rob a car it automatically demobilizes the car by disconnecting the ignition key supply from the car battery.AayushAggarwal, R.C. Joshi designed his WSN and GSM based Remote Home Security System by combining the advantages of Wireless SensorNetworks and GSM technology is presented.

Literature survey :

1.The Home automation system that uses Wi-Fi technology ,System consists of three main components; web server, which presents system core that controls, and monitors users’ home and hardware interface module(Arduino PCB (ready-made), Wi-Fi shield PCB, 3 input alarms PCB, and 3 output actuators PCB.), which provides appropriate interface to sensors and actuator of home automation system. The System is better from the scalability and flexibility point of view than the commercially available home automation systems. The User may use the same technology to login to the server web based application. .If server is connected to the internet, so remote users can access server web based application through the internet using compatible web browser.

2.The application has been developed based on the android system, An interface card has been developed to assure communication between the remote user, server, raspberry pi card and the home Appliances. The application has been installed on an android Smartphone, a web server, and arduino  to control the shutter of windows. Android application on a smartphone issue command to arduino. An interface card has been realized to update signals between the actuator sensors and the arduino.

3. It has been implemented with arduino through reading the subject of E-mail and the algorithm. Raspberry Pi proves to be a powerful, economic and efficient platform for implementing the smart home automation,
